Hunmanby FC Statement Regarding the Future of Hunmanby Playing Fields

On 3 September 2026, Hunmanby FC was informed by Hunmanby Parish Council that permission for the club to use Hunmanby Playing Fields would come to an end on 3 January 2027.

This news came as a huge shock to everyone involved with the club.

The decision was originally made at a Parish Council meeting on 2 September 2026. No representatives from Hunmanby FC were made aware that the future of our use of the playing fields was being discussed, and we were therefore not given the opportunity to attend, address any concerns or provide our views before the decision was made.

This was particularly disappointing as we had already been attempting to arrange a meeting with the Parish Council to discuss securing a longer term agreement for the club. Our aim was to give Hunmanby FC the security needed to seek funding that could help improve and reinvigorate the bottom pitch, providing better facilities for football in the village.

Following discussions with the Parish Council, the decision is now being re evaluated, with the matter due to be reconsidered at a Parish Council meeting on 30 September 2026.

We welcome the opportunity for the decision to be looked at again and hope that this provides a chance for a fair and constructive solution to be found that allows Hunmanby FC to continue operating in Hunmanby.

Since Hunmanby FC was formed in March 2025, close to 100 players have worn the Hunmanby orange. We have grown into a club with two teams competing in the East Riding County Football League, in Divisions 4 and 5, and have also organised two successful charity days in support of the J94 Ward at Leeds St James Hospital.

Hunmanby FC is about much more than football. It has brought players, families and people from across the community together and created opportunities for people to represent their village.

We want to make one thing absolutely clear.

This will not be the end of Hunmanby FC.

Over the coming weeks, we will continue doing everything possible to secure the future of the club and work towards a solution that allows football to continue in Hunmanby.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported the club so far, whether that has been through attending matches, sponsoring us, playing for us, volunteering, supporting our charity events or simply sharing our posts.

We now ask everyone connected with the club, the village and the wider football community to continue sharing our story and supporting us as we work towards the 30 September meeting.
